X-WR-CALDESC:Lincoln South Downtown Revitalization\n\nThe area just south o
f Downtown has come under scrutiny recently. Some see it as blighted and p
ossibly ripe for “redevelopment.” Others call it their home neighborhoods\
, and they are leery of others’ ideas about it. Leadership Lincoln Hot Top
ics will explore this in a civil\, thoughtful way on Jan. 20 as the 2016 H
ot Topics season gets underway.\n \nThe Lincoln South of Downtown Revitali
zation Project stretches roughly from A to M streets and Ninth to 17th str
eets. It includes parts of two of Lincoln’s oldest historic neighborhoods
(Everett and Near South) and also part of Downtown. \n \nWhy is this area
under consideration? Who are the players? What do current residents think?
How does this affect Lincoln as whole?\n\nEach panel member will give a b
rief overview of his/her perspective on the development and proposed outco
mes of the South Downtown Revitalization Project. We’ll have 30 minutes fo
r Q&A. The big idea is to have a friendly\, open discussion of the project
and potential impacts\, both positive and negative\, so people have the b
est information for understanding the project.\n \nSpeakers:\n Dr. Ed Z
