 hairs for Leadership Lincoln’s “Annual Celebration of Community Leadership
 .”  The event will feature Jessica Shortall\, a global social entrepreneur
  and former Director of Giving for TOMs shoes\, sharing her message of “Th
 e Hard Work of Doing Good Well.” We will also recognize this year's winner
 s for the Melvin W. Jones Mentoring Award and the Bud Cuca Servant Leader 
 of the Year Award.\n\n“Dick and I are thrilled to be a part of this event 
 and celebrate all the community spirit and activism that is happening in L
 incoln\,” said Senator Campbell.\n\nThe Campbells have taken leadership ro
 les in many civic and business organizations in Lincoln.  Dick is a past c
 hair of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce and the Nebraska Chamber of Commer
 ce and Industry\, led the West Haymarket Redevelopment Bond Issue campaign
 \, and currently serves as chairman of the Bryan Health Foundation\, and b
 oard member of the Lincoln Public Schools Foundation.  He is an elder of S
 outhern Heights Presbyterian Church.  Kathy\, State Senator from District 
 25\, chairs the Health and Human Services Committee. She served on the Lan
 caster County Board and on boards for the Lincoln Electric System\, the Fo
 od Bank\, Leadership Lincoln\, and the University of Nebraska Medical Cent
 er Advisers. Currently she is on the Bryan Health Board of Trustees\n\nKey
 note speaker Jessica Shortall started her adult life as a Peace Corps Volu
 nteer in Uzbekistan and hasn't stopped searching for ways to change the wo
 rld since\, across the non-profit and for-profit landscapes. In the early 
 2000s\, she co-founded and franchised The Campus Kitchens Project\, a non-
 profit organization that is now active in more than 40 communities. \n\nIn
  2006\, Jessica received an MBA with honors from the University of Oxford\
 , as a Skoll Scholar in Social Entrepreneurship. She went on to spend thre
 e years in London\, providing consulting services to social entrepreneurs 
 before taking the role as the first Director of Giving and Social Innovati
 on at TOMS Shoes.  While at TOMS\, Jessica helped to build and implement t
 he now-iconic One for One giving program that\, to date\, has provided mor
 e than 50 million children in need with new shoes\, and has supported sust
 ainable eye care for patients around the world. Jessica is a published aut
 hor and TEDx speaker. \n\n“We all want to be inspired to do good in the wo
 rld\,” Shortall shares. “But feeling good about what we do isn’t enough – 
 we need to push ourselves and the organizations we support to ensure that 
 our efforts actually do lasting\, sustainable\, and respectful good. That 
 isn’t an easy job\, and I’m excited to share what I’ve learned\, and to sp
 ark a conversation with the thoughtful servant leaders of Lincoln.”
