 earning new ways of thinking about leadership.\n\nOur first exploration wi
 ll begin on September 1 and will involve a small group\, co-learning exper
 ience – a group journey involving one of the most popular and impactful ma
 ssive open online courses (MOOC) in the world\, led by Otto Scharmer of th
 e MIT Sloan School for Management.  The course is offered for free through
  edx\, and is called u.lab: Leading From the Emerging Future: An introduct
 ion to leading profound social\, environmental and personal transformation
 .\n \nPreeta Bansal will be working with Brendan Evans to facilitate some 
 of the discussions of our group as we work through the course. Currently w
 e are planning on convening through Zoom and will poll the group for meeti
 ng times.\n \nThe size of the group will be limited. If you are interested

 nprecedented disruption. Climate strikes\, the COVID-19 pandemic and globa
 l protests against racial injustice all point to a pressing need for socie
 tal renewal. To catalyze this renewal we need to learn not from the past\,
  but from a future wanting to be born. How to activate our capacity to lea
 n into the emerging future may well be the most important leadership chall

 Instructor\nOtto Scharmer is a Senior Lecturer in the MIT Management Sloan
  School and co-founder of the Presencing Institute. He introduced the conc
 ept of “presencing”—learning from the emerging future—in his bestselling b
 ooks Theory U and Presence (the latter co-authored with P. Senge et al). H
 e is coauthor of Leading from the Emerging Future\, which outlines eight a
 cupuncture points for transforming our social\, economic\, ecological and 
 political systems. His most recent book\, The Essentials of Theory U\, sum
 marizes the core principles and applications of awareness-based systems ch
 ange. In 2015\, Otto co-founded the MITx u.lab\, a massive open online cou
 rse (MOOC) for leading profound change\, which has since activated a globa
 l eco-system of transformational change involving more than 160\,000 users
  from 185 countries. In March 2020\, Otto and his colleagues at the Presen
 cing Institute launched GAIA (Global Activation of Intention and Action)\,
  a free\, online\, deep learning journey\, geared toward profound personal
 \, societal\, and planetary renewal.
