Lincoln South Downtown Revitalization
The area just south of Downtown has come under scrutiny recently. Some see it as blighted and possibly ripe for “redevelopment.” Others call it their home neighborhoods, and they are leery of others’ ideas about it. Leadership Lincoln Hot Topics will explore this in a civil, thoughtful way on Jan. 20 as the 2016 Hot Topics season gets underway.
The Lincoln South of Downtown Revitalization Project stretches roughly from A to M streets and Ninth to 17th streets. It includes parts of two of Lincoln’s oldest historic neighborhoods (Everett and Near South) and also part of Downtown.
Why is this area under consideration? Who are the players? What do current residents think? How does this affect Lincoln as whole?
Each panel member will give a brief overview of his/her perspective on the development and proposed outcomes of the South Downtown Revitalization Project. We’ll have 30 minutes for Q&A. The big idea is to have a friendly, open discussion of the project and potential impacts, both positive and negative, so people have the best information for understanding the project.
